VCU has not had many dominant big men in the last several years as we have been guard-dominant under Capel and Grant for the most part. We have had some very good bigs in the past however. I agree that most new guys will vote for Larry Sanders based on familiarity, but we've had some VERY good bigs come through here. Sherron Mills comes to mind especially. I believe he was the last Ram to be drafted in 1993. He was a high 30 pick in the second round (I think either 31 or 32). The guy had a lot skill for a big man. Hopefully Shaka is able to recruit some great bigs to go with some of the great guards he's pursuing in the future. :)

WHERE IS BERNARD "SUPERNARD" HARRIS???
ask Robert Parrish if he has seen a better college big man opponent!

WHERE IS JESSIE DARK

Ah. Sorry. Can't believe I missed Supernard. Stinnie had to go sorry. I figure Stinnie played during a down era in VCU basketball, and I'm not sure I could justify taking anyone else off the list. Edited. :)

I voted for Hopkins....the change from Metro to CAA left a bitter taste in all our mouths...but watching Bernard play was like watching a Man against Boys. 96 was a great year...won the CAA (awful title game) Pep Band was the best on the East Coast (screw you ECU), didn't have a single early morning class, and there were Fan parties galore.

good times.

Last I heard, Bernard was having a stellar career in Spain.

You got to go wth the home town hero!
Thomas Jefferson's own Kendrick Warren.
Man, my grandma went to TJ!
Good enough for me.

Gotta go with B-Hop on this one....physical and mentally tough player!!!
Plus he has a good right hook.

Kottak wasn't a big man. 6'5" max as a wing.

DB - you need to start running these by an old timer before posting.

He won't be on the list, but Calvin Roland was one of my favorite Big men in my short VCU history. On that list I will have to go with Larry thouh

Gotcha. Will change it. Nominations anyone?

DB, Rodney Ashby was a crowd fav at the time he was here!
Good guy, and loyal supporter of VCU.

i've never seen a more explosive player than kendrick, going back to his days at TJ. Around the rim he was impossible to stop, if only he could hit free throws and make a 10-15 ft shot, he would have gone to the NBA.

I'm not sure Kendrick was what i would call a "Big Man" but he was as athletic as anyone in VCU history. The bernard's were great "Big Men" but my vote goes to my fav Mike Schlegel. Now he would 'nt back down to anybody.
