Ed Nixon pokes the ball out from behind from an offensive player. The ball shoots down the side destined to go out at the baseline on our defensive end. While the opposing player is shielding the ball out of bounds Nixon slips around him, grabs the ball while barely staying in bounds. He passes it off and they push it up the court hitting Nixon who proceeds to hit the three at the half time buzzer. They will win if they continue to play at that level of intensity.

If Ed and his fellow energy brother Brandon can keep the rest of the team infected with their level of intensity (although I know JRod and TJ need no help), we will be hard to beat every day through Monday and beyond. We need to keep putting together solid 40 minute efforts, especially against the better quality opponents we will likely be facing the rest of the way. Getting out to early leads and being able to give our starters some rest will also be important. If yesterday was any indication, all I can say is 8-) .

The season begins today at 2:30.

Why VCU will win?

Because VCU is the better team. That is all.

VCU will win because this isn't a road game. If it were farther away from Richmond with fewer fans and longer travel for the team it would be a tossup or maybe a probable loss. The stats for this year bear this out. Given the psyche of this team I do think that having these games in Richmond helps them a GREAT deal - - more so than other teams we've had recently. Hate to say it, but objectively that's the way it looks to me.

This is not the time to be objective. Since the games are in Richmond let's just win them all.

Probable loss? Would you seriously take GMU on a neutral court after the squeaker on their home court and them losing 6 of their last 8? You'd have to be crazy.

Just for the record, GMU is 6-9 away from the Patriot Center and they have 13 losses. They have a 152 RPI for a reason.
