Will Wade is the man AND he scheduled VCU a H/H

Wade now has a rep and track record for turning programs around pretty quickly. And in this era of portals, NC State's past is pretty irrelevant. Gone are the days when coaches need a full recruiting class to develop before they start winning. Pitino needed just two years at St. John's to go from an 18 win team to winning 31 games.

I'm just happy we get NC State at the Siegel Center in year two of the Wade era.
Wade's teams have made the NCAA's in 5 or his 9 years as head coach. Probably would have made it a 6th time if the tournament wouldn't have been canceled because of covid

Will Wade is a numbers guy, and he knows that playing a team like VCU enhances his chances at the end of the year to get, if needed, the at large bid to the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. This game is good for NC State and it is good for VCU.

North Carolina State, two-time NCAA champion and 2024 Final Four qualifier, doesn't need a road trip to the Siegel Center to beef up its resume .... the ACC schedule/Big 10 Challenge takes care of that ... there is $omething going on here ... If I were the AD of any school in the country, going to VCU might be my last option (in terms of what's in it for me) .... that is, unless the financial agreement was overwhelmingly tilted my way. Or .... lucrative national TV arrangement set in advance?

There is no ACC/Big 10 Challenge. It's now an ACC/SEC Challenge. Also, NC State should have a return home game this year against Kansas. The other wild card is the ACC announcing this week that they are dropping back to 18 conference games starting with this coming season. Will Wade could also be looking for more regional OOC games since the expanded ACC now takes them to SMU, Cal and Stanford.

The ACC just reduced its conference schedule to 18 games because the ACC has been quite weak for the last couple of years, despite the goal of becoming a superconference being not having to rely on a strong conference schedule.

I would bet the #1 justification for snubbing teams who felt they deserved an at-large bid would be their out of conference scheduling. Some coaches believe in challenging their team out of conference, some take a different route. I doubt very seriously this is about some financial windfall for NC State, but you never know.

The smartest move to make regarding scheduling games is to play the best teams you think you can beat. Perhaps Frank is confident about beating VCU and it becoming a resume enhancing win and not doing much damage if they lose?

If you are looking to show the world the “Pack is Back”, I can see WW wanting to put his team in as many hostile, high level arena’s as possible. At McNeese they played anyone anywhere. That’s just his style.

The stu's residents will be froggy as hellandready to jump. We'll see this rams team mop the floor with the wolfpack. They're gonna get blindsided. It's gonna be a mess.

Ive been a vocal advocate for VCU to the Big East but if all our former coaches (Wade, Shaka, Rhoades, Odom) - would schedule these games we could easily retain the opportunity to make the tourney year in and year out.

It's a great game for all of them. UVA, Penn St, Marquette, and NC State). VCU always does its part. We bring big name ID and consistently rank among the highest NET builders in the country outside the P5. The games are regional and have huge tv appeal. Playing and beating VCU is a well-earned win.

So I hope we see more of this. Says a lot about Wade.

Let's remember too, WW is looking out for WW (not saying that in a negative way). NC St is only the next stop on his "tour". I honestly believe his target is much higher, KY, Duke, TN a real blue blood.
