Willie Warren

Have to get the ball past half court to score.

I don't think it comes down to throwing one guy on him all game, like puttin Bruce Bowen on Kobe all game or what not. We just play our game and don't let them change what we do...so I would imagine he'll see a little bit of everyone.

One thing is for sure, he ain't taking the ball into the paint.

(Warren scored 9 points on us last year, 5 below his season average)

I think its an interesting ironic fact than last year it was e-man (small man) vs blake griffin (large man) and this year its the opposite larry (very large man) vs willie warren (small man)

Capel will try and match Warren up against Joey and our point guards all night. He will try and post Warren up down on the block and invert their offense. they don't have a proven inside scoring threat but they have some really good guards/wings. there are very few players in the country that can guard warren one on one. Warren and Crocker will be a handful for us. The key ?? try and keep the ball out of his hands. double team him and make him give the ball up and make someone else try and beat us. I would trap him everytime he gets the ball in the front court. Hopefully our half court trap will be working well by then !

Tommy Mason-Griffin is also a top flight point guard that is going to give us problems. Keith Gallon is HUGE load inside and should be a tough assignment, although I expect Larry will do just fine there. It will take a team effort to contain their backcourt though...they have a lot of talent there.

I dont suggest putting ed on him, because that would require ed nixon playing about 30 minutes and inevitably guarantee a loss

How is that a guaranteed loss if our best defender guards their best offensive player? Me not understand! :?

Just curious who you would suggest guard him? Joey? Gavin?

He just thinks we can't win with Ed Nixon playing heavy minutes on the floor. I don't agree with that, but I can understand why he feels that way. Nixon has been an offensive liability in the past, and he's looking through that lens when evaluating his value on the court. Nixon would be a great asset in containing Warren, and that's the first and most important key to being able to pull out a win against Oklahoma.

Ed out scored 2 starters and 1 point short of Brad so maybe the criticism is a little unfair. Just maybe.

I agree putting your best man defender on their best offensive player is a horrrrrrrrrrrrrrible idea..only a bonehead coach would do such a thing.
