VCU fans were delighted on Tuesday afternoon to learn that VCU guard Zeb Jackson will be returning to VCU next season, using his additional year of eligibility. He will join Joe Bamisile in returning to what is already looking like a formidable roster for the 2024-2025 Rams.

Zeb Jackson's Return

Zeb Jackson’s contributions were pivotal for the Rams throughout the 2023-2024 season, where he averaged 11.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game. His field goal percentage stood at 38.7%. Notable highlights include a 26-point game against Dayton and a 17-point performance against UMASS during the Atlantic 10 tournament. His return fills a crucial role at the PG position as the Rams looks to establish an experienced roster for Ryan Odom's 2nd year as head coach.

Joe Bamisile Stays Put

VCU fan favorite Joe Bamisile indicated to the media toward the end of the regular season that he intends to stay at VCU for his final year of eligibility. Averaging 13.1 points per game, Joe was a scoring factor for the Rams all season. His field goal percentage stood at 42.3%. Although his assists were relatively low at 0.6 per game, Bamisile’s scoring contributions were crucial for the Rams. Notable performances include a 20-point game against Duquesne during the Atlantic 10 championship final and an 18-point performance against UMass in the quarterfinals. His consistent play and offensive firepower were key factors for VCU throughout the season.

Roosevelt Wheeler Enters the Transfer Portal

Roosevelt Wheeler has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal.

Wheeler’s decision comes after spending just one season with the Rams in Richmond, Virginia.
In his lone season with the Rams, Wheeler played in 25 out of 32 games. In limited minutes, he averaged 1.2 points and 2.0 rebounds per game. He had some key plays for the Rams toward the end of the season, and interested teams will look at those minutes for consideration. His size and potential could make him an attractive prospect for other programs seeking frontcourt depth. He will have one year of eligibility remaining at his next destination.
