Recruiting Transfer Portal

Most all D1 bb programs must be feeling anxious. So many changes with little oversight and no historical baseline data. It’s going to take time to sort this out for everyone, including P6’s. Change doesn’t bother me as much as the scope, pace and impact major without any real oversight, direction, or data. It runs the risk of significantly wounding a sport millions love, which angers me.

I guess I don't really understand what's changed between this year and last year as far as the NIL stuff goes that's generating all this angst.
The combination of unregulated/unpoliced money and transfer-as-often-as-you-like is new. Every player is now in an unregulated, unlimited free-for-all. That's new. Schools are bound to free agency contracts that cannot be enforced by the schools. That is new.

Also, I think people vastly overstate the pay-for-play that happened in the pre-NIL dark ages. Sure it happened, but this year, every A10 program will be paying players; that surely was not true in the good/bad old days

There needs to be an organizing framework similar to what successful pro leagues have, which tries to create balance for the sustainable success of the ongoing enterprise, with collective bargaining on behalf of the players' interests, but which brings back at least some of the structural stability and predictability that used to be enforced by one-sided fiat from the ncaa, but would become part of what's agreed to in exchange for the bag.

Kill the golden goose, and feast in the short-term, but then...

That scenario would require.....wait for it.....transparency and oversight

we've a better chance of seeing The Traveling Wilburys go back on tour...

The way it’s going I’m gonna judge the 💩 out of players. Every single one of them. Odom is gonna secondary as I don’t know what is being demanded. Until VCU shows they are giving Odom the resources he needs he’s getting the BOTD. Which means some including again the heads of this site need to get off his back. They’ve going at him on X non stop for the Deloach thing. They don’t know who we’re reaching out to nor do you know what Deloach might be requesting. Or if he even fits into the current team. It’s again this holding on the past BS. If Deloach wasn’t former Ram those ones wouldn’t even be looking at him. It’s all emotional connection.
I'm trying to catch up reading this thread backwards so I edited to initial post. So fans are getting on Odom for not recruiting Deloach? I thought some fans were upset about the possibility of recruiting him to come back?

Sonny was the coach of the Bernard Hopkins led 1996 team that lost to Mississippi State in the NCAA Tournament. They were actually pretty fun to watch.
Our front line that season rivaled the defensive line of many football teams in terms of their weight. We had a lot of beef that season.

I don't know much about him other than it appears that he has had some solid games against us the past couple of years. I need to check out our LaSalle games and pay more attention to him.

Could someone please convince me to be excited about having another undersized guard if he commits.

Yep. Fans are blasting the coaching staff on social media particularly the founders of RN. They been shaming VCU and Odom for not pursuing Deloach. Basically not bringing “Ramily” back to VCU. Hello the dude did walk out last year when Odom tried to keep him. That was reported multiple times.

I have no interest in convincing you of anything, but he's being pursued by UVa, Cal, Iowa, Wake and possibly Michigan.
