...and I apologize about the haHA. I allowed the Texas 2 stepper to get the best of the Virginia Gentleman. I let down my fellow statesmen, and for that, I apologize.

Its sad when someone loses a job. People get pleasure when a dirt ball loses a job but thats their problem. Doesn't seem like a liked guy and made some questionable choices in the way he conducted business. I hope he lands on his feet with a better head.

What is there to discuss? Immediate upgrade for Texas and Shaka.

Shaka is a smart man, he probably had a feeling this was in the works. Even more of a reason to join UT . UT will be better because of this.

Coaches never want the guy that hired them to get fired. As long as Patterson was there, Shaka was his hire and therefore his guy. Patterson would have given Shaka more rope because he wouldn't want to admit he made a bad hire. It won't be necessary for the next AD to have that kind of loyalty. It will be easier for the next AD to fire him if he stumbles early. This just makes Shaka's first 3-4 years at Texas that much more important for his future.

I don't know about that. Patterson hasn't been around that long. At VCU, Shaka had the influence to choose his own A.D. He's not in charge in Texas, the boosters are in charge. Someone else will bring in the A.D. who does not have a prior relationship with Shaka. Shaka needs to win right away if he wants to stick around.

And right now the football team looks rather bad and Strong didn't have a great season last year either. A new AD could clean house in one or two years.

This is what will ultimately dictate how Shaka can perform. Hypothetical, but a "quick" ouster of Strong could really hamper Shaka's foundation footing in Texas. If Patterson and Strong (strong supporters of Shaka) leave, anything could happen.
