Dom Jones, the Smoothest of the Smoove, was another Ram to engage in league play at AmFam Swift Creek .... I'm going by the gym early this evening (before pickleball at old Clover hill High) and will check the hoop league stats and provide a much-anticipated update.
As with most of your posts we'll be anxiously refreshing our browser for your updates.

If that's tonight I wish I could go, I would- all the jobs we've knocked out where things pile up when spring comes callin', I've been thru every type of pollen you can imagine and it'd hadn't until this morning affected me. Woke up and my face is swollen up eyes and nose and all. Hay fever like I haven;t felt like this in years. Finally came crashing on my so Ima dope up on benadryl today, it's the only thing that's ever worked for me. It sucks because it's a beautiful day, today, I should be working.

With Brickus visiting this weekend, getting some rest might be a good idea - you'll want to be well-rested in the event we get a big commitment!

Never a done deal til it's done
With that 37 point game it should be clear VCU is a Tressigang right of passage.
I'll just put this right here, then.

Won't be too long .... should be back by 9 pm or so with info on name of Brandon's team, scoring average and next game ... that is, if I don't get blown to Oz by epic winds ... however, should that occur, I'll try and send the information back to Kansas ... err Richmond ... via flying monkey.

Days like this are prime for protecting your eyes, wear some eye protection (sunglasses, etc), and always good to have a new unopened bottle of eyewash with the little eye cup thingy, on hand.

Brandon Jennings, the do-it-all star for Shake Down, is averaging 32 points for the 2-1 squad .... next game is April 23, 7:15, AMFAM Swift Creek. Good standing room still available.

This is one of those "at the risk of stating the obvious" comments, but on top of the clear needs we have skill wise, I just hope we add a "dawg" or two.

We were never going to play "HAVOC" style hoops forever, and I was fine with our style even though the results were less than ideal, but one thing that seemed pretty clear by the end of this recently concluded season was that we had very little to no "dawgs" on the team, and the ones we did have didn't play like they had that extra spunk and grit in them.

That's a problem that we need to fix for next season.

Not suggesting at all that we want enforcers or guys who are just coming in to solely be physical/dirty and that's all they contribute. But on the other hand, having almost no physicalness and toughness beyond the sort of bare minimum required to play collegiate sports is a tough thing to make work in high-level D1 basketball.

Totally agree. I like a more offensive minded system, but we need some more toughness out there.

Watch some tape of Brickus, he fits that bill really well. I think if you get one or two DAWGS out there the rest of the team feeds off of it in a way and before you know it, that’s the identity of the team.

Do we need Brickus if Shulga comes back?

Apparently Ed just tweeted about needing NiL $$. We either need some to retain someone or get someone😑😑

NOT A FAN of “this” new world of college sports.

Making me a casual fan 😔
I think we all have to reconcile ourselves to the fact that VCU basketball is now a pro sports team. Of course, I can't remember a professional sports team begging its fans for loose change donations to pay their players.

Maybe when this all shakes out the schools will be able to ditch the "collective" charade and pay the players out of school funds so this unseemly begging can stop, and we can return to the begging for season ticket purchases.
