CBS6 to Broadcast at least 8 VCU Games!

Central Virginia's CBS6 news channel will be broadcasting several games for the 2012-2013 VCU men's basketball season. This will make almost 90% of all games televised!

The new deal ensures that 85 percent of VCU’s regular season games will be broadcast on live television into the majority of homes in Central Virginia.

“This partnership provides a phenomenal opportunity to showcase our program,” Head Coach Shaka Smart said. “Our fans in Central Virginia will get to watch almost ninety percent of VCU Basketball games on live TV. We’re extremely excited to provide such tremendous television coverage for our loyal fans.”

“WTVR is thrilled to make these games available to Ram fans in our viewing area. The enthusiasm and energy surrounding Shaka Smart and VCU Basketball is apparent, for us to partner with VCU is a ‘win’ for the station,” WTVR General Manager Stephen Hayes said. “VCU regular season basketball is a natural fit for WTVR-TV. With CBS Sports’ affiliation with college basketball and March Madness, it makes sense for WTVR to broadcast Rams’ regular season games wherever, or whenever, possible. Hopefully the Rams will be back on our air when the NCAA tournament comes to CBS 6 in March.”
