VCU sophomore, Jayden Nunn, dropped a career-high 31 points including 23 first half points to help the Rams blow out the Hawks of St. Joseph's, 88-63, tonight in Philadelphia.

After some recent struggles from three, the black and gold unloaded from deep in the win, connecting on 11 of 19 three-point attempts (57.9%) including a perfect 7-7 night from Nunn. The Rams shot 52.5% overall on the night and hit 15 of 18 free throws in the rout of the Hawks.

VCU's usually stout defense traveled as well, limited SJU to just 37.5% shooting on the night. The Rams' havoc defense turned Billy Lange's squad over on 21.7% of their possessions.

Saint Joseph's was just a game away from a .500 record in the conference before the Rams sent SJU to 7-9. The win keeps VCU atop the conference at 12-3, currently a game and a half ahead of second place Dayton.

Fellow sophomore, Jalen DeLoach, was another standout for the Rams in tonight's victory. The 6'9 big man exited the court two games ago with a knee injury against Rhode Island, but since his return has been borderline dominant. He finished with 19 points on 9-11 shooting and added seven rebounds and a block in the win.

Ace Baldwin led the Rams with three steals in the win and added seven points and two assists for the black and gold.

Four Rams hit at least 50% from three in the win including Nunn's standout performance and a 2-4 night from sharpshooter David Shriver who finished with six points, a rebound, one assist and a block.

Nick Kern hit his one three-point attempt following a career night a game against Fordham. He finished with seven points, two assists and two steals for the Rams.

Jamir Watkins came off the bench to lead the Rams with a team-high seven rebounds, tying DeLoach's number in six fewer minutes.

The win moves VCU to 21-7 on the season heading into a FridA10 matchup against crosstown rival Richmond. The Spiders picked up a huge home win over Saint Louis just after VCU's game concluded and are hoping to avenge a 12-point Rams win at the Robins Center earlier this season.
