VCU won their fourth straight contest as they finished out the non-conference schedule with an overall 8-5 record.

The Bulldogs of Gardner-Webb were unable to contain the Rams who shot 51% on the game, including making 8 of 11 from range and 9 of their 10 free throws.

Just one game out of his debut in the Black and Gold, Sean Bairstow put up a career-high 22 points to lead all scorers on the afternoon.

Bairstow shot 11 of 18 from the field while also grabbing 7 rebounds and dishing out 5 assists.

In all, the Rams had four players reach the double digit scoring mark.

VCU controlled the boards with a 42-33 advantage.

Tobi Lawal grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds to go with his 14 points and 3 blocks en route to his third career double-double.

After leading by 6 points at the half, the Rams used 16-1 run to create the distance they needed to lock this game up.

During that time the Bulldogs missed 9 consecutive shots going on to a 39% shooting performance for the day.

Joe Bamisile's 21 points and Lawals 14 points made up 90% of the 39 contributed from the VCU bench.

Max Shulga was the final Ram in double-figures as he knocked down 5 triples to help tally up his 17 points.

Shulga also grabbed 5 rebounds and tied with Bairstow in dishing out a team-high 5 assists.

The Rams return to action on Wednesday, January 3rd as they open the A10 conference schedule against the Bonnies of St. Bonaventure. That game is set to tip at 9pm and will be broadcast on CBS SportsNet.
