The building is located behind Ackell Residence Hall (which houses student athletics), and is directly across the street from the Siegel Center, at the corner of Marshall St. and Harrison St.
We don't have any projections or graphics like we've seen with the $25 million practice facility, but the space will be equipped with 24 iMacs, and provide plenty of areas for team study groups and academic services between student athletes and academic advisors.

On Monday, Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics Ed McLaughlin announced the acquisition of 2,700 square feet of additional academic space.
The structure, formerly the Commonwealth Cancer Center, is located adjacent to the Stuart C. Siegel Center in the HDL, Inc. Athletic Village on the corner of Harrison and Marshall Streets. Renovations started in June and the new academic center will welcome its first of VCU’s nearly 300 student-athletes in the coming weeks.
“This new space allows us to address a need of the most important part of VCU Athletics, our student-athletes. Dedicating more space to our outstanding academic support program will help our student-athletes achieve at an even-higher level academically,” McLaughlin said. “This space allows us to educate our student-athletes and prepare them for their careers after VCU."
The center, complete with 24 iMac desktop computers, will provide space for team study halls and allow advisors and student-athletes to enjoy enhanced confidential academic counseling through the availability of additional office space.
It will also contain a conference room for Student-Athlete Support Services to meet with prospective student-athletes and their families. The center also will serve as an overflow study hall space.
Since 2013, VCU student-athletes have recorded the highest grade-point-average (GPA) over any two-year span in department history. Earlier this year, 51 VCU student-athletes were named to the Atlantic 10 Conference’s Commissioner’s Honor Roll.</blockquote>
