The VCU bench scored 39 points en route to a decisive 88-67 win over the visiting Rams of Rhode Island.

VCU led wire-to-wire as the Rams jumped out to a 17-3 lead to start the game.

Another run later in the first half, this time 14-3, would usher the Rams into the locker room with a 42-21 advantage.

Joe Bamisile led all-scorers on the night with 24 points on 57% shooting from the floor—including five of his nine attempts from range.

Max Shulga had a special night as well as the senior guard surpassed the 1,000 career point mark.

Shulga would finish the evening with 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists.

VCU assisted on 50% of their made baskets on the night while tallying 15 overall dimes.

Zeb Jackson led the way with 5 assists to compliment his 6 rebound and 11 point performance.

Tobi Lawal grabbed a game-high 8 rebounds to go with his 9 points in just 17 minutes of action.

VCU out-rebounded the URI 37-30 overall—which included 11 offensive rebounds which led to 18 second chance points for the home squad.

Sean Bairstow was the only other player to score in double digits as he notched 16 points to pair with his 4 rebounds and 2 assists.

VCU's 10 steals made up two-thirds of URI's 15 total turnovers—of which VCU converted into 15 points.

With the win tonight, VCU improves to 19-9 on the season and 11-4 in conference play.

The Rams have won 6 of their last 7 outings, and are 11-2 overall dating back to January 9th.

The Rams will return to action on Saturday, March 2nd as they head across town to take on the first place Spiders from Henrico. That game is set to tip at 6pm EST and will be broadcast on CBSSN.
