Just one day after surviving a near scare against Fordham, VCU bounced back to exact their revenge on the Minutemen of UMASS Quarterfinals of the A10 Tournament.

The Minutemen jumped out a a quick 5-0 lead and it briefly looked like the Rams may have a repeat of their cold start during the last meeting between these two teams.

But a dunk from Kuany Kuany capped a 7-0 run by the Rams, and another dunk from team mate Zeb Jackson just minutes later put the Rams ahead 13-11 with 10:21 to play in the first half.

The Rams held on to that lead for the remaining thirty minutes and fought over several runs made by the Minutemen.

Despite the Minutemen leading the conference in rebounding coming into the matchup, VCU proved today to be able to take advantage of the glass and held a 37-26 differential and 15 second chance points.

Tobi Lawal and Michael Belle both grabbed a team leading 6 rebounds on the afternoon.

The Rams also shared the ball with precision and accuracy as they assisted on 73% of their 22 field goals.

Max Shulga led the Rams with 7 assists while also netting four points.

Overall the Rams shot 50% from the field and 35% from distance.

Joe Bamisile had a team-high 18 points that included four triples.

VCU's bench outscored the UMASS bench 34-4 on the afternoon.

Jackson contributed 17 points—including 10/11 from the free throw stripe—to go with 4 rebounds and 5 assists.

The win today sets up a 1pm tip-off against the Hawks of St. Joe's in a Saturday Semi-Final matchup.
