VCU loses at Dayton in overtime thriller, 89-86

VCU traveled to Dayton on Friday evening in hopes of securing a 4 seed heading into the Atlantic 10 tournament. The Rams put up an incredible effort in what was one of the most thrilling games of the season, but came up short in overtime by just 3 against the Flyers, 89-86.

VCU led the game all the way through 5:57 left in the 2nd half, where Nate Santos hit a 3 pointer to put the Flyers up 64-62. Joe Bamisile helped the Rams to a 4 point lead on a layup at the 2:47 mark, but the Flyers fought back to tie and trade leads with the Rams through overtime.

Zeb Jackson led VCU in scoring with 26 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, while Max Shulga put up 14 points shooting 4-9 from deep, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.

The Rams are now effectively a #5 seed in the Atlantic 10 tournament, and will play in Brooklyn on Wednesday, March 13th at 2:00 PM on USA Network.
