The Iowa State Cyclones faced off against the VCU Rams in a thrilling prime-time Thanksgiving game on ESPN2. The game unfolded with the Cyclones ultimately edging the Rams in the final 2 minutes with a final score of 68 to 64.

The dynamic duo of Tyrese Lipsey and Kaden Gilbert led the Iowa State offense, combining for an impressive 44 points. Lipsey showcased his scoring versatility, connecting on 8 of 16 field goals and sinking crucial free throws down the stretch. Meanwhile, Gilbert’s precision from beyond the arc (2-5 from 3-point range) and reliability at the free-throw line (12-15) played a pivotal role in securing the win.

The VCU Rams played well throughout the game, led by Max Shulga who notched 17 points, including four 3-pointers. Despite their efforts, the Rams faced challenges in rebounding and struggled with turnovers, allowing the Cyclones to capitalize on opportunities down the stretch.

VCU now looks ahead to a challenging matchup against Boise State on Friday, November 24, at 8 p.m. in the second-round play of the ESPN Events Invitational, set to be broadcasted on ESPNU.
