Video: Tillman's game high sends Seniors out with a win, beat Mason 72-60[INSIDER]

After losing their last two games on the road, VCU was more than happy to be back at the Stu but this game was bitter sweet. This marked the last time Ram Nation got to see our seniors, JeQuan Lewis, Torey Burston, Jordan Burgess, Doug Brooks and Mo Alie-Cox suit up at home. Junior Justin Tillman’s game high 24 points, made sure that the seniors went out on a win against George Mason, 72-60.

After scoring 9 of the teams first 16 points, Burgess’ hot hand cooled down just in time for Tillman to take over. Tillman’s 11 rebounds notched him another double double.

Lewis only scored 1 point in his final game on Broad street but his 9 assists certainly helped in the win. His 5 fouls, on the other hand, was not that helpful.

Today was not VCU’s best shooting performance. The Rams shot 46% on the day, going 31-68 and 3-18 from behind the arc. They show just 7-13 from the charity stripe.

Points in the pain was key in the win against the Patriots. 54 of VCU’s 72 points came from within the paint.

The Rams turned the ball over just 5 times on the day.

The win moves VCU to 24-7 (14-4 A10) heading into the Atlantic 10 tournament next week. VCU’s next game will be on Friday, March 10th in Pittsburg.
