Recruiting Transfer Portal

Holy crud ... I just realized VCU has only had ONE coach who stayed more than six seasons, and it was good old Sonny Smith. I suspect some of you knew that already, but I didn't.

Fair I was going off a hunch from the eye test. But he always made me nervous and his scoring was streaky throughout the season. I like consistency.

In either case we should be able to afford better than Bairstow and if we can’t that’s a funding problem.

Edit: quick glance at Brickus - 13.9 ppg, assist/TO 2.28, worse rpg at 3.5.
So yes we should be able to upgrade his value with players in our realm. And we need to be aiming higher. Bairstow was fine just not great.

Bairstow was also injured for half of the season and did not play. I'll take a player the caliber of Bairstow 365 days a year. You just didn't get to see him at full strength - and he still put up decent numbers.

You know I have to ask since you.......posted this and based on some of your previous post.

Would you say that AG and UD are wasting time recruiting Zed? Is he financially "out of reach" for UD?
I think they are offering a good enough package for him to listen...it would be amazing if they snagged him..but ultimately I think he will choose a more lucrative power 5 opportunity....especially when you hear stuff like this 👇

Frankly, I would take Joshua Jefferson 10 times out of 10 over key. Key is over priced.

Here is my opinion. players can ask for anything. They can only get what the market bears. There is also a limited number of schools who both can AND will pay that kind of money. And economics say that the pool is going to get smaller once people start seeing the true ROI. Kansas just spent $4mil for last years team and we know $1mil went to one player. How did that work out and how many times are they going to repeat that. The media and most of these social media accounts are looking for engagements so they are going for the most extreme examples becasue sensationalism sells. A story as an example that you probably haven't heard is Towson, who is certainly not an NIL powerhouse is returning every single eligible scholarship player from last years team and they have a couple of players that could have moved up and probably got $50 to
$100k.

I'd take Jefferson too. As far as Dayton's ability to compete for Key, remember they have the NIL the used to go to Holmes. Unless Holmes broke the bank. They can't pay a whole team that way, but they can compete with the big guys for a few.

His injury was huge as it not only required mental/physical recovery it also significantly impacted his interaction with team. Not being able to play in games is ever good, but it’s compounded without daily practicing with teammates, Wish Bairstow the best and happy he was a Ram, if only for a shortened one year.

I think that may have been a few years too long.
