Recruiting 2025 Offers

I am curious about Odom's recruiting chops, which are unknown at this point. We have the highest recruiting ceiling of any school he's been at so far. Will it be mostly unranked international players mixed with a few HS American croots then mostly portal?

Well, if you think about it all of our previous coaches were pretty unproven until they arrived as far as recruiting is concerned.

Here's a big one that fell through the cracks.

Jordan Scott,SF - South Lakes High School in Reston, is currently the no
53 player in the class of 25, #2 in the state.

Rhoades offered him and he visited VCU in '22

When Rhoades left, Odom renewed contact with Jordan Scott and went up to watch him play in Reston last June.

He's blown up considerably with previous major interest from Maryland, Virginia Tech and Michigan St.

Now Kentucky us talking to him. Jamie Shaw already assumed he was as good as gone to the Wildcats...but Jordan had to set him and On3 straight.

The point is never believe these insiders have it 100% right. I've seen them blow alot of predictions lately.

@TampaKAP and @RAMification
Please analyze these guys when you have time lol

Need to move this post over to the portal thread. Some great potential with these guys if we can get one.

We are beginning to see that Odom has his own style of recruiting that seems to work... Kids want to play for him and why not... He's big on just letting them shoot and for a kid coming out of high school with big numbers that is music to their ears... I'm looking for Odom to start competing with the BIG BIG BOYS as he moves forward as VCU's coach... He seems to be the real deal...

I think this is a pretty good strategy to have in a world where transfers are much more highly valued as known quantities. A lot of good high school prospects might slip under the radar, and building strong relationships with them is key so they don't get poached by schools with bigger NIL bags.
