Recruiting Ty-Laur Johnson: Open for Business

His first 2 visits. 3 left. Will he use one of his remaining visits on VCU? Don't know. We shall see.

Rivals insider Rob Cassidy mentioned in the article that Ty-Laur Johnson has expressed interest in visiting Memphis along with Ole Miss and Pitt. He has 2 visits remaining.
Seton Hall will probably get the 4th visit which leaves 1 slot
As you can see from the attached exchange, Tylaur did not mention VCU but that doesn't mean the rams are out of the picture.

My speculation is that if Elmarko leaves vcu off his cut list then we may get renewed interest from Ty-Laur and the possibly the last ov. But only if Elmarko removes VCU from consideration.

We need to keep an eye Ty-laur Johnson.

Earlier this summer, Ty-Laur mentioned VCU amongst the schools recruiting him the hardest.

If Silas Demary and Elmarko commit someplace else then he would be VCU's next logical option.

He only has scheduled 2 officials visits: Pitt this weekend and Mississippi st. 9/24 - 9/26 so he has 3 remaining slots.

Although he is elite 4* consensus top 50 - 75 guard, his offer list is small enough where we could get one of his 3 remaining visits.

His only remaining offers besides VCU are

Seton Hall, St. John's, Creighton and Memphis.

Tough competition but very beatable.

A Josh Hubbard commitment may be a key to Ty-Laur Johnson giving VCU an OV.

Seton Hall has been one of the teams with an inside track on "Show Time" Ty. He move from St. Benedicts to another prep school that has supposedly been a pipeline for Seton Hall.

Meanwhile Josh Hubbard has been forecasted by on3 to have a 95% likely to go to Ole Miss and Seton Hall less than 3%. The fact that Seton has him in for OV now is surprising to say the least.

I would love for Seton Hall to acquire a Josh Hubbard commitment and eliminate them from the Ty-Laur Johnson sweepstakes.

As for Johnson’s recruitment, he currently only has one other visit scheduled, and that is an official visit to Ole Miss from Sept. 24-26. Johnson said that other than Pitt and Ole Miss, he is still talking to Fordham, Seton Hall, Miss State, Ole Miss, Memphis, NC State, VCU, Rhode Island, and some others. However, he said, those schools listed are the ones that are “going hard.”

Ole Miss has only 1 open guard slot for 2023.

ON3 says there is a 93.7% chance the Top 100 PG Josh Hubbard commits today to Ole Miss at 1:30pm CT today.

If the prediction holds then Ty-Laur cancels OV to Ole Miss, removes the Rebels from consideration and increases VCU odds for getting a Ty-Laurs Visit.

Our main competition for "Show time"'s remaining 3 visits would be reduced to Seton Hall, Miss St., Memphis, NC State and Rhode Island.

He's already been to Pitt and Fordham.

Update:

Pg Josh Hubbard commits to Ole Miss!.

Now Ty-Laur, hopefully, cancels his visit and VCU has 3 chances to get an OV instead of just 2.

Additionally, the 6-foot, 160-pound former St. Benedict’s Prep (NJ) player holds offers from Fordham, Pitt, VCU, Ole Miss, Creighton, Seton Hall and St. John’s, according to VerbalCommits.com.

The Newark, N.J., native drained team-bests with 388 points and 64 steals while grabbing 66 boards and dishing out 122 helpers this past season.

Johnson dropped in 103 points, pulled down ten rebounds, dished out six assists, and made seven steals in 14 contests in his freshman year (2019-20) at St. Benedict’s Prep.

what makes you say this?
They lost out on Davin Cosby jr. and Jaland Lowe. They've offered and been into see showtime in the last 2 weeks.

The recruiting analyst screwed up the school. Ty transferred from St Benedict's last

Same guy who retracted his crystal ball and is speculating USC.
