Good thread. Good discussion. Good stuff.
Sometimes.... I hope you are right, and I know for fact that you are connected down on Broad Street. Many of us are, including me. But you are probably more in the know with some of the younger crowd, and closer to the players than I. So thanks for sharing the info. I only wish you could be a little more specific in how you word it. ie... I know you can't give names. That is not cool. But maybe something like... I've spoken to someone that was there last night.... or I know a guy that's best friends with someone on the team, or.... you get the point. Anyway, thanks for the info. You know.... I'm a little "slow," but I do catch on eventually.
Like I said... I hope Sometimes is right. Monday night was a display of some really bad trends, that have been emerging for some time, but finally came back to kill us. We can recover form the loss, but now it is not going to be easy. We are now 1-2 in CAA play. For the record, and IMO, you have GOT to go in every year expecting nothing shy of an at-large. You've got to aim for it. You can not possibly, in your right mind, expect to win 3 in a row in this league- especially with the superior defense and coaching we have in this league. We are very capable- but you can not expect it, and you sure as heck can't have to rely on it. That's just the insurance policy. And that is where VCU needs to be- on a permanent basis. The tourney should just be gravy- I totally agree with you Dawg. And again, JMO.
Last opinion- then I should really shut my mouth (or quit typing).... Karill is the odd man out right now- as far as the rotation is concerned. And he's not a 4- especially on this team. He's a back-up center. Period. Skeen is definitely the starting 4- I personally think Coach is giving TJ a break b'c TJ deserves minutes, with his attitude, his warrior mentality, and his work ethic. But he's not a starting 4, and he is NOT a 3. At all. He's really a 4- in a 3's body. I hope you guys are right about the 8-man rotation. For me, the starters should be Joey, Brandon, Brad (although he better get it together soon, or Ed will replace him), Skeen, and The Land-Lord. First off the bench are Nixon & Saintil. Saintil can play 4 or 5. Next off are TJ and Gavin. We need Gavin to get it back together, b'c it is obvious the guy can play. He just hasn't been.
Well... that's a 9-man rotation. I think TJ gets less minutes- but again, in certain situaitons, TJ can be a crushing force- like against a UR, or a Bill and Larry. So there will definitely be a time and a place for him. The frosh should get min's when we are big- against a non-top-5 CAA opponent- and that's it. Bo more messing around against the better teams- like NU. HUGE lack of continuity Monday night. Crushing. JMO's
